As everybody knows, physical activity is one of the key elements of a healthy lifestyle. Previous studies have shown that physically active persons have lower rates of diseases. For many years, the biomedical research literature has extensively explored the positive effects of physical activity on health. Physically active persons can prevent the emergence of some serious health problems such as back pain, obesity or cardiovascular diseases. In addition, our ageing society greatly influenced the development of health care services and the appearance of data mining was a milestone of modern biomedical applications. Human activity recognition (HAR) is a rapidly expanding part of this area where the goal is to determine the activity level of someone. It has several application opportunities in different fields such as health care, ambient-assisted living and rehabilitation. Our research directions cover almost the whole HAR reseach field. Some key points of this topic can be seen below.
